In 1978, Jet’s Pizza founder, Eugene Jetts was about to buy a new home. But on the way there, his passion for pizza took over. While he did sign a lease that day, it wasn’t for a home. Instead, he leased a space in Sterling Heights, MI that would become Jetts Party Shoppe and Pizzeria, now known as Jet’s Pizza.
Just like that, a legacy was born. A legacy Eugene and his brother and partner, John Jetts didn’t realize they were creating. Eugene and John opened a second store in 1986, using breakthrough technology with the use of a conveyor oven. In 1985 the Jetts Party Shoppe ditched its original name, dropped a “t” and became Jet’s Pizza. With dreams to grow the brand Eugene and John started, their cousins Jim and Jeff Galloway joined ownership in 1987. For Jet’s, a lot has changed since opening that first party shoppe in 1978. The name, the menu, but what will never change is their commitment to quality ingredients. Since day one, Jet’s has used premium mozzarella from Grande Cheese and Mama Jetts’ secret sauce recipe.
By 1998, the first franchised store opened its doors and today there are hundreds of locations in 21 states. Jet’s Pizza made deep dish history by making Detroit-style pizza a household name, but they have even more to offer. Their menu includes hand-tossed rounds, thin-crust and NY Style pizzas, fresh salads, breads, and desserts. With the passing of Eugene Jetts in 2014, John Jetts along with Jim and Jeff Galloway continue to honor the legacy he started. A legacy we all get to enjoy each time we take a bite out of a Jet’s Pizza. I think we can all agree we’re glad he didn’t buy that house almost 45 years ago.
